I have
had 5 Acrochordus
granulatus over time. They all died.
4 arrived in such poor condition that Death was inevitable. The
one pictured above was the only decent opportunity that I have had to experiment
with Acrochordus granulatus care. That animal only lived about 1 month
after arrival, but I did learn quite a bit from all 5. The pictures in the photo
gallery give a much better idea of it's true state.
The setups that I tried were all freshwater. Yes, Acrochordus
granulatus have been kept successfully long-term in freshwater.
I have added a Caresheet from Kris Ramones, Philippines, under
the "Caresheet" link. Kris is currently keeping 5
Acrochordus granulatus and has been doing so for about 10 months (as of 10/07)--Very Impressive as
Acrochordus granulatus go! He has given me the opportunity to
share with You what captive husbandry is working for him. He has dealt with the dreaded White Spot
Fungus--and eliminated it!
I have been given permission to reprint Dr. Lilywhite's article
on Acrochordus granulatus Husbandry which is finally up and Online!
It can also be found under the "Caresheet"
link. Before Kris Ramones' recent success, Dr. Lilywhite was the only
person that I am aware of that has successfully kept Acrochordus granulatus
alive long-term in captivity.
The "Further Reading"
link to the left offers links to Online
Information on all 3 filesnakes.
